About this project

Description

The GEF investment will add to the current efforts to sustainably manage the PWII in El Salvador, with benefits for the conservation of the associated national and global BD. The project will benefit the six RAMSAR wetlands in El Salvador and will serve to reduce the threats and pressures placed on them, prioritizing actions to be implemented in the PWII associated with the lower Rio Grande de San Miguel watershed: Jiquilisco Bay Complex, El Jocotal Lagoon, and the Olomega Lake

Objectives

Promote the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and the maintenance of ecosystem services through the creation of new protected wetlands of international importance and the improved management of existing protected wetlands.
